KEREMEOS BC
KEREMEOS
// Land of ten thousand fruit stands. The sun went down as I pulled into town, so I decided to park for the night. I wandered down to the Wrong Turn Tavern to see what happens in Keremeos on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised that quite a bit was taking place.
A band of 8 talented local musicians played all the hits. I met Oscar who was from Mexico and had spent his summer in this valley. His plan was to find a way to Calgary to experience some city life before heading home. A couple from Edmonton had just retired, sold everything to move here and buy an apple orchard. They were well on their way to living happily ever after. A local filled me in on the ongoing drama between Keremeos and the neighbouring community of Cawston, and then someones ex girlfriend showed up and exchanged heated words with another lady. I sat back very pleased with myself that I had gotten a full update on the comings and goings of this beautifully peculiar town, and could now rest easy.
I always appreciate popping into the lives and hearing stories of complete strangers. It’s a wonderful reminder that each and every person that passes by is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
